Jenn Andrus
Jenn is an Adult Clinical Psychologist with nearly 20 years of experience assessing and treating a wide range of people and presentations in a variety of settings. Jenn grew her empathy, compassion, and clinical skills in settings such as community mental health, corrections, forensic psychiatry, addictions, physical and occupational rehabilitation, private practice, and police recruitment. Jenn has significant experience not just as a clinician but as an educator, leader/manager, clinical supervisor/consultant, and human.
Jenn believes in using evidence-based practice to address client concerns in assessment and in treatment. This is grounded in a collaborative, holistic, client-centered approach with a foundation in education. You won’t want to share if you don’t feel heard and understood. If you don’t understand the “what and why” of an assessment or treatment, you probably won’t want to do it or give your best effort.
Jenn’s warm but direct and educational approach will leave you understanding and feeling understood. She loves to use analogies, metaphors, drawings, memes, YouTube clips, and more to enhance your connection and understanding of the diagnosis, the treatment, and ultimately yourself and the skills that will help you be the best version of yourself.
Jenn is passionate and experienced in working with those who have experienced trauma, particularly first responders/public safety professionals, and those with longer-term/untreated/complex presentations associated with trauma (i.e., BPD, OCD, Substance Use, or Other Addictive Behaviors). Jenn has significant training and experience in delivering CPT and DBT. She also has a personal and professional interest in mindfulness and often seeks to incorporate mindfulness strategies into treatment. She has been specifically trained in mindful self-compassion and mindfulness-based stress education and regularly practices mindfulness and meditation. When Jenn is not providing clinical service, she spends time with (or cleaning up after) her young children. She is otherwise outdoors, eating something with cheese, at a concert with family and friends, or catching up on her TV watch list (or watching Frozen again).
